Menus and actions depend on your company's settings and your access. If something is missing, ask your company administrator.

Before you begin #

Prepare stock groups, units and applicable tax/pricing information. Distinguish the stock item from each sellable or usable variant.

Step by step #

  1. Open Stock Item and add or edit the item.
  2. Select its stock group and base unit and complete the available required fields.
  3. Create or review its variants and their distinguishing details.
  4. Review tax classification, prices and ingredient/BOM information where applicable.
  5. Save, reopen and search for the variant in a transaction picker.

Understand the fields #

  • Stock group: classifies items in the hierarchy.
  • Stock item: the product family.
  • Variant: the specific choice used on transaction lines.
  • Unit: controls quantity representation and precision.
  • Production display order: determines ordering of ingredients by their stock item where used.

Check the result #

The transaction picker should identify the intended variant clearly. Confirm its unit before entering stock.

If something goes wrong #

If a variant is absent, check status, filters, company context and permissions. A display name does not by itself establish available stock.

On mobile #

Open the same module from the app menu. Use the record card or its actions menu. Scroll through the form before saving so that required fields and validation messages are not missed. Your permissions still apply.
