Configure units and quantity precision
Understand why quantities display different decimal places for different units.
Menus and actions depend on your company's settings and your access. If something is missing, ask your company administrator.
Before you begin #
Agree the base units and precision with your inventory team before using them in transactions.
Step by step #
- Open Stock Unit and add or edit the appropriate unit.
- Check its name/symbol and decimal-place setting.
- Save and verify the unit linked to each stock item/variant.
- Reopen a relevant transaction and compare the quantity display.
Understand the fields #
- Decimal places: precision used to display a quantity for that unit.
- Unit selection: applies to the line’s quantity; do not confuse quantity precision with money decimals.
- Conversions: use the configured conversion when a transaction permits alternate units.
Check the result #
A pieces unit can display whole numbers while a weight unit can display fractions according to configuration.
If something goes wrong #
If precision looks wrong, check the actual selected unit, including the line’s unit, rather than only the item name.
On mobile #
Open the same module from the app menu. Use the record card or its actions menu. Scroll through the form before saving so that required fields and validation messages are not missed. Your permissions still apply.
