Understand GST classification messages
Resolve a missing taxability value without guessing from a zero tax amount.
Before you begin #
Use classification confirmed for the goods/service by your accounting team. An item can have zero calculated GST for more than one reason.
Step by step #
- Open the affected item’s GST classification control.
- Review Taxability and choose the correct configured treatment.
- Set Reverse charge or Ecommerce section 9(5) only when applicable to the transaction.
- Apply, then refresh/review the amounts.
- Check other items and save again.
Understand the fields #
- Taxable: a taxable supply; rates still need to be correct.
- Zero rated: a distinct zero-rated treatment; not a substitute for all zero-tax items.
- Nil rated: a nil-rated treatment.
- Exempt: an exempt supply.
- Non GST: outside GST treatment.
- Reverse charge / section 9(5): separate applicability flags.
Check the result #
A populated, valid classification should survive reopening the form. Confirm both classification and amounts.
If something goes wrong #
Sales, Purchase and applicable credit/debit notes may enforce stricter checks than quotation/order flows. If master defaults are incomplete, fix them through authorized master maintenance rather than repeatedly guessing at checkout.
On mobile #
Open the same module from the app menu. Use the record card or its actions menu. Scroll through the form before saving so that required fields and validation messages are not missed. Your permissions still apply.
