Prepare accounting masters before transactions
Check the accounting setup before testing sales, purchases and payments.
Menus and actions depend on your company's settings and your access. If something is missing, ask your company administrator.
Before you begin #
Use an authorized account and have your accounting team’s intended ledger/tax setup ready.
Step by step #
- Open GST & Charges / Accounting Setup in the app.
- Review applicable GST and charge definitions.
- Review the ledger/role mappings required for sales, purchases, cash, bank, taxes and charges in the exposed setup.
- Check the customer/supplier party data and item GST classifications.
- Create a small authorized test transaction and inspect its accounting result.
Understand the fields #
- Ledger mappings: determine where accounting amounts are posted.
- GST/charges: define applicable calculation components.
- Party: identifies the customer/supplier account.
- Classification: remains required even when a computed GST amount is zero.
Check the result #
Test Sales, Purchase and Receipt/Payment using the intended company context. Inspect the saved document and reports, not only the success message.
If something goes wrong #
For a required ledger message, complete the relevant setup instead of selecting an arbitrary user. Have your accounting team confirm the intended account.
On mobile #
Open the same module from the app menu. Use the record card or its actions menu. Scroll through the form before saving so that required fields and validation messages are not missed. Your permissions still apply.
