Use Contra, Journal and credit/debit notes
Choose the correct accounting document instead of changing an unrelated invoice.
Menus and actions depend on your company's settings and your access. If something is missing, ask your company administrator.
Before you begin #
Confirm the accounting treatment with the person responsible for your books. This guide explains app usage, not which tax treatment your business must choose.
Step by step #
- Choose the intended voucher type in Vouchers or POS.
- Check date and number.
- Enter the required ledgers or item rows for that form.
- Review debit/credit or total amounts and references.
- Complete required GST details for applicable credit/debit notes.
- Save and verify the transaction in the appropriate report.
Understand the fields #
- Contra: used for applicable cash/bank transfers.
- Journal: records accounting adjustments using the available debit/credit form.
- Credit/debit note: adjusts the relevant transaction; check party and tax details.
- Narration: explain the reason and reference.
Check the result #
Verify that the intended accounts changed and that a document was not duplicated.
If something goes wrong #
Do not suppress a balancing or classification error. Review ledger choices and amounts, then retry.
On mobile #
Open the same module from the app menu. Use the record card or its actions menu. Scroll through the form before saving so that required fields and validation messages are not missed. Your permissions still apply.
